Our family is constructing a universe. Our universe, however, does not have infinite space nor is it capable of carrying unlimited mass. Therefore, selection of what goes aboard is critical. We are applying, as much as practical, our standard approach to traveling: if we cannot carry it on our backs, we won't take it. That is, minimalism is the key. We will collect what we need as we go. That said, this is our home and a few additional items will be taken. We do expect this list to grow, but hopefully not by much! Our load capacity of 2,000 lbs won't let us anyway.
Books
We will be taking books on science, mathematics, art, literature, history, geography, and psychology. Some books by title that we will be bringing include: The Art of War, 48 Laws of Power, The Prince, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Merriam Webster Dictionary, Man and His Symbols, Fountain Head, Don Quixote, The Republic, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Complete Short Stories of Edgar Allen Poe, Heart of Darkness, Enders Game, Beyond Good and Evil, The Human Zoo, Memoirs of a Sword Swallower, Divine Comedy, The Odyssey, and more to be added. We can easily imagine this becoming a problem ... too many books on board! Good thing Val now has her Kindle!
Celestial Maps
These will serve as astronomy teaching tools and help us learn about night navigation.
Musical Instruments
We will be taking four musical instruments with us: African Thumb Piano, Lyre, Pungi, and Goblet Drum. These will serve as learning opportunities and self created entertainment. Thank you to Aunt Jenny and Aunt Iris for buying these for us (alas, they require us to make a music video with each of these instruments).
Games
We will be taking some games: two decks of cards, Chess, The Whole Brain Game, Monopoly, and Go. These will serve as learning opportunities and self created entertainment.
Computers
Minimally, 2 laptops will accompany us on the journey.
